4 product types in the SPC portfolio

OIL CHECK 500 / PC 400 / FA Series + DS 500 recorder

Coverage Oil parameter: OIL CHECK 500 (vaporous residual oil 0.001–5 mg/m³, displays ISO 8573-1 oil class). Particle parameter: PC 400 optical particle counter (from 0.1 µm, verifies Class 1). Water parameter: FA-series dew point sensors. Documentation/logging: DS 500 chart recorder consolidates all three for the audit trail. Deployment: fixed-install per parameter, or a mobile transport-carriage 'all-in-one' set for periodic certification. A customer needing only a subset of parameters takes only the matching sensors.

ISO 8573-1 air quality is a three-parameter measurement, and CS Instruments is one of the few makers that builds its own sensor for each of the three. Oil: the OIL CHECK 500 measures vaporous residual oil from 0.001 to 5 mg/m³ at 3–9 bar, with patented auto-calibration, and displays the achieved ISO 8573-1 oil class directly. Particles: the PC 400 optical particle counter resolves particles from 0.1 µm — fine enough to verify ISO 8573-1 Class 1 — at a 28.3 l/min sample rate. Water: the FA-series dew point sensors cover the moisture parameter. A DS 500 chart recorder ties the sensors together, logging and documenting all three for an audit trail. A mobile 'all-in-one' transport-carriage version packages the set for periodic certification work.

Why CS Instruments here ISO 8573-1 certification means measuring particles, water, and oil — and CS Instruments is one of the only manufacturers that makes its own instrument for every one of the three, with the DS 500 recorder to consolidate them into a single documented audit trail. That single-source coverage matters for audit-regulated food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and electronics plants that must defend each number. SPC can quote a customer the exact subset of parameters their compliance scope requires, or the full transport-carriage set for periodic certification rounds, all from one calibration-backed brand.

FA Series (fixed) / DP 500 Series (portable)

Coverage Fixed inline transmitter (continuous monitoring): FA 510 (3-wire) and FA 515 (2-wire), measuring to -80°Ctd. Portable handheld with data logger (spot-check / audit): DP 500 and DP 510, to -80°Ctd. Range covers refrigerated-dryer dew points through deep desiccant-dryer dew points. Integration: 4–20 mA standard; Modbus-RTU (RS-485) optional on the fixed transmitters.

CS Instruments covers dew point two ways. The FA 510 / FA 515 are fixed inline transmitters for continuous monitoring downstream of a dryer — measuring range to -80°Ctd, accuracy ±1°C in the +20 to -20°Ctd band, 4–20 mA output with Modbus-RTU (RS-485) optional; FA 510 is a 3-wire device and FA 515 a 2-wire device, both rated to 50 bar (special versions higher). The DP 500 / DP 510 are portable handhelds with an integrated data logger and touchscreen, measuring down to -80°Ctd for spot-checking and dryer audits across a facility. The sensors are condensation-insensitive, which is what lets them survive a wet-air upset without drifting.

Why CS Instruments here CS Instruments builds its own dew point sensing element and offers both the fixed transmitter and the portable handheld, so SPC can match a customer who wants a permanent alarm point on a dryer and a customer who wants to walk a plant with a logger — from one brand with one calibration story. The -80°Ctd range spans every dryer technology SPC sells, refrigerated through deep desiccant, and the condensation-insensitive sensor design holds accuracy through the wet-air upsets that are exactly when a dew point reading matters most.

VA Series

Coverage Inline (built-in measuring section, smaller pipe): VA 520. Insertion / hot-tap probe (existing pipe, no shutdown, 1/2" to DN 1000): VA 500 and VA 550, in fixed probe lengths 120/160/220/300/400 mm. Bi-directional measurement option on the inline unit. Integration: 4–20 mA + pulse standard; RS-485 Modbus-RTU native; optional Ethernet (PoE) / M-Bus. Probe length is selected to pipe diameter at quote time.

CS Instruments' VA Series is the flow line in the SPC portfolio, built on the calorimetric (thermal mass) measuring principle — a heated element cooled by gas flow, so the reading is true mass flow independent of pressure and temperature. The VA 520 is an inline meter for smaller pipe (roughly 1/2" to DN 65) with the measuring section built in; the VA 500 and VA 550 are insertion-probe meters that hot-tap into existing pipe from 1/2" up to DN 1000, supplied in fixed probe lengths (120 / 160 / 220 / 300 / 400 mm) to match pipe diameter. Accuracy is on the order of ±1–1.5% of reading. Standard outputs are 4–20 mA plus a consumption pulse, with RS-485 Modbus-RTU native and optional Ethernet/PoE for plant SCADA. Operating range covers roughly -30 to 80°C and to 16 bar (PN 40 on request).

Why CS Instruments here CS Instruments is a compressed-air-measurement specialist whose VA Series is purpose-built for the audit job SPC leads with — quantifying actual CFM consumption. The insertion VA 500/550 hot-tap into a live pipe so a plant never has to shut down to get its baseline flow number, and Modbus-RTU comes native so the reading drops straight into a SCADA or energy-monitoring loop. One brand covers inline small-pipe through large-header insertion, so a DC rep specs the whole flow-measurement job from a single line.

LD 500 Series

Coverage Standard ultrasonic detector with leakage-rate and cost calculation: LD 500. Detector with freely assignable CS sensor input (also reads dew point / flow / pressure / temperature): LD 510. Optional add-on: UltraCam acoustic-imaging camera for locating and photo-documenting leaks at distance, usable with both units. Both log to a 16 GB SD card for report export.

CS Instruments' leak line is the LD 500 / LD 510. Both detect the 40 kHz ultrasonic signal a pressurized leak emits — inaudible to operators — and convert it to a leakage rate in l/min or CFM and an annualized cost figure on screen. The LD 500 is the standard unit; the LD 510 adds a freely assignable sensor input so it can also take CS dew point, flow, pressure and temperature readings, making it a multi-parameter audit tool rather than a single-purpose detector. An optional UltraCam acoustic-imaging camera locates and photo-documents each leak from a distance. Internal Li-ion battery runs roughly 9 hours per charge; readings log to a 16 GB SD card for the audit report.

Why CS Instruments here CS Instruments built the LD 500 line specifically for the energy-audit walk-through SPC uses as a door-opener — the instrument does the loss math on screen, turning each detected leak into a dollars-per-year number that becomes the justification document for fittings, valve repairs, and system upgrades. The optional acoustic camera lets a rep document leaks from the floor without climbing to overhead pipe, and the LD 510's sensor input means one tool can also capture dew point and pressure on the same visit. A distributor with a service arm leads with the audit; one without sells the instrument outright — the same product supports both.
